When National City redesigned its Online Banking model, it was decided that they wanted to bring personalized offers to the customer. In doing this, a lot of thought had to go into how you present an offer to a customer and actually get their attention.
In heavy user testing, we found that customers not only welcomed advertisement as long as they felt it applied to them personally, but welcomed personal offers that they actually wanted.
In the end, My Offers gave customers a mix of a flashier advertisement in the front, and inline suggestions that more subtly relate to a product.
